It’s Wednesday so it’s time for another interview with a member of the TTRPG community! Today we’ll hear from Arcus Masmeyer aka Qedhup, noted self described Coffee Addict. You can find them at youtube.com/qedhup , twitter.com/qedhup , pretty much any social media just search for Qedhup.

Let’s get going!

What is your favorite TTRPG?

My favourite RPG is whatever is the best tool from my RPG toolbox for the game I aim to run at that moment. Although I think I’ve been getting the most usage out of The Cypher System these days. FATE Core, ALIEN RPG, Tales from the Loop, Cyberpunk RED, Dungeons & Dragons. They all have their place. It’s like having a set of screwdrivers. Most screwdrivers work best with a certain type of screw, even if you can try to use them with other types less effectively.

What other hobbies are you interested in?

Writing. I have my first RPG book being published pretty much as we speak, with more in the works. I also enjoy content creation on my YouTube channel for fun. And of course Tabletop RPG’s!

Describe your ideal job or assignment in the TTRPG space

Game designer of course! Writing the nitty gritty details of the book, then getting to lay it out all pretty. I spend hours thinking about not only what would balance nicely, but what would just be most fun.

If you gave a eulogy for a party you know who was TPK’d, what would you say?

Farewell adventuring friends. You kind of knew it was coming. Should you adventure in the afterlife, mayhaps next time you’ll do some GORRAM RESEARCH before hunting down the giant scary monsters, eh?

What do you think is absolutely essential in creating a safe space for all in a TTRPG game?

Communication. This isn’t like the old days where the DM/GM is in charge, and it’s their way or the highway. People recognize now that everyone sits at the table. 99% of problems at a table are resolved in the same way; just talk to them like adults. Communication can solve, and even prevent most issues.

Something else you’d like us to know about you

I have tons of guides and videos on my YouTube channel. These days there are especially lots of videos about the Cypher System. Although we have some pretty fun Live Stream games on there as well. One of our favourite being the 5 part Kids on Brooms game, “Akuno Highschool Spellclub”.
