Description

Abe Phloxtrotter is an NPC for your 5e based ttrpg, a halfling warlock.

Abe Phloxtrotter is a lightfoot halfling. His full name is
Abrahim but he much prefers the simpler “Abe”. He is 125
years old, quite elderly for a halfling. He stands 2’ 10” tall
and his previously brown hair is mostly gray now. He wears
shades of purple whenever possible and wears large hats
often.

Abe spent most of his life running a store, “Abrahim’s
Traveler Supply.” Abe married a local woman named Evelynn and they had a
son who they named Isaac. Evelynn passed away when
Isaac was young and Abe did his best to raise Isaac alone.
Isaac grew up around the store, playing in his youth and
helping to stock shelves as he grew older. Isaac idolized the
adventurers who frequented the shop and Abe would fuel
this with bedtime stories of bravery and heroic deeds.
As an adult Isaac decided to pursue an adventurous path,
first as a porter and hireling for an adventuring party and
eventually learned to be a ranger, a protector of the people
in nearby woods and valleys. Isaac would be away for
lengths of time and returned to his father with tales of his
exploits. One winter saw Isaac away for more months than
usual and Abe began to worry. That spring word began to
make its way to Abe that Isaac had died – fallen in battle
against a horriffc creature. Abe tried to keep his spirits high
until one traveler came by confirming the tale of Isaac’s
death and returning his favorite hat as proof.
Abe fell into despair over the loss of his son. He kept the
store running with the help of local friends yet he found
himself increasingly unable to sleep. Awake for much of the
night he turned towards a pile of books. He had accepted
the books in trade from a strange traveler in dire need of
supplies but who had no way to pay in coin. He found these
books full of parables and interesting tales and soon read
his way through them all. Soon after he found that certain
verses from these books stuck in his mind and as he recited
them he could create mystical effects. When he did this he
felt as if he was not alone, and he took to calling this imaginary
presence “The Lender”, and frequently shortened that
to “Lenny”. When he’d discovered enough of these
powers to be of a help and he went off to discover the true
story of Isaac’s death and bring his murderer to justice.
