Description

Hint uses an open mystery system – no one, including the game master, knows “who done it” until the final die roll. Play as pre-generated characters such as or create your own character using the simple character creation rules.

Hint is a detective game using a simplified version of the Cypher System role playing game from Monte Cook Games – Hint is a complete game, so you don’t need otehr rulebooks to play Hint. The game is played by a game master and 3 to 6 players. The adventure uses an open mystery system inspired by the Brindlewood Bay game by Jason Cordova and published by The Gauntlet. It allows for creative improvisation by players and game masters alike. The game is self contained, no other rule books are needed to play.
Hint is a one-shot mystery adventure inspired by classic murder mystery board games. Each player creates a character using the character creation rules, or chooses one of the pre-generated characters such as Commander Catsup, Señor Verde and Madame Ruby. The characters try to find clues to solve a murder and use the clues to propose a solution. The players then roll to see if their solution is correct. Even the wildest theory could be true if it relies on the collected clues, with a little luck.
Each character is a member of the local gamers group, and the group has been invited to playtest a new murder mystery board game called Hint, created by game designer Harriet Persson. Mrs. Persson based the characters in the board game on the player characters, and they have been invited to play test as an honor to these homages.

Hint includes the adventure and rules book in PDF format, booklets of maps for GMs and Players, Character sheets, pre-generated characters, and a Players’ Guide for character creation.
