Today we talk with Raffy.
HI Raffy, thanks for talking with us. What do you do?
Most of my free time, I play video games with friends and TTRPGs as both as a player and GM. Every now and then I also like to play different instruments like the guitar and the bass.
What is your favorite TTRPG?
I don't like calling favorites, especially since I haven't played a lot of games. The games I have played are Dnd 5e (mostly), Pathfinder 1e and 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Fallout RPG and a bit of Cyberpunk. The game I'm currently playing is DnD 5e, but I'm always interested in playing new TTRPGs.
What other hobbies are you interested in?
I'm interested in composing music and playing in a band, but the lack of motivation has stopped me from doing so. At some point in time, I'd love to get back into a rock/metal band, play some good music and make new friends along the way.
If you created a TTRPG about anything, what would it be like?
I've been into making my own games, but most of them are just drafts of game ideas. When it comes to game design, I closely or almost fanatically follow Jared Sorensen's (game designer) & John Wick's (game designer as well) way of making games. Think about 3 questions: What's the game about, How does it do that and How does it reward such behaviour.
Back to the topic at hand, a few of my game ideas that I wish will come true is:- New Old World; It's about creating a better future for your loved ones, after mankind destroyed themselves. This game also had the thought of speculating what life would be like after humans disappeared from the planet. You'd play as clans of mythological creatures that were awakened after the devastation of Earth to thrive on a new world. There are many creatures to be aware of but the only thing that every creature is scared of are The Monsters or also known by the cursed name- Humans.
- Untrained Heroes: It's about untrained heroes facing personal and cosmic conflicts. Characters would gain more powers and skills depending on how many flaws they have. The more flawed, the more super!
What childhood cartoon would you like to play as a TTRPG?
I'd definitely love to play Biker Mice from Mars, Hot Wheels AcceleRacers, Code Lyoko, Monster Allergy. Some of those may not be exactly cartoons, but they sure are great!
Have you ever felt like an outsider in the TTRPG space?
When I started, obviously the hobby looked weird. The first time I was introduced to it was when I was 13, and I was excited, but didn't join the hobby at that point since I was doing other stuff, but at the age of 15 I was properly introduced to it and I joined the hobby. It was only during the pandemic I found that there were different kinds of groups of people. I don't really think of it much since we all are different and it's only natural that you don't fit in one tribe of people, but fit in another one.
Let us know anything else you'd like us to know that we didn't ask!
