Today we talk with Matt of MimicsNMisfits. You can find him as MimicsNMisfits across many platforms including Twitch, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, BlueSky and Tiktok. He can personally be found as MimicsMatt on BlueSky. Let's hear from Matt!
Stuff You Do:
I'm the lead GM, producer, and wearer of many hats for the MimicsNMisfits channel. We're a tabletop collective looking to tell engaging stories with a varied and diverse crew.Do you prefer playing TTRPGs online or in person, and why?
While both certainly have their merits, playing games online gives opportunities to play with folks you may not others interact with. In addition you can use a variety of programs.to play, and I'm quite the fan of playing games using 3d platforms like TalespireWhat is your favorite book(s)?
My current favorite is the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik, mostly because it's the last book series I've read. The Cleric Quintet is also a wonderful seriesWhat is one thing you think defines a (nearly) perfect TTRPG session?
TTRPG sessions where players run away with the story on their own, when you have that moment as a GM where you can just sit back and listen as your players talk to one another in-game about in-world eventsWhen you play at a physical table with real dice, do your dice have to match?
Yes, I have several sets and usually only use one set at a time. If I ever change out my dice, it's always for a new full setHave you ever felt like an outsider in the TTRPG space? Describe if you can.
Absolutely, I think there's times when everyone in the TTRPG space gets some form of imposter syndrome. We're a relatively small streaming group, and while we've had some amazing guests join us, our "following" isn't exactly robust. Many people in the space say that those numbers don't mean as much, but it can be a real challenge to reach out to larger folks in the community.Anything else you'd like us to know:
We're looking for a GM to work with for 2024! If folks have a story to tell, but are looking for someone else to run production, we want to hear from them. You can find our contact details on our website, http://mimicsnmisfits.comThanks,Matt!
