After the U.S. Civil War as the Union expanded west through the lands the indigenous peoples called home, a horrifying torrent of malevolence was released on the world, its cause still unknown. The macabre creatures and forces unleashed destruction on all, leaving the scarce survivors nearly hopeless. The few scattered heroes were left with only their skills, the arcane secrets of past mystics, and the bizarre creations of deviant inventors to fight the oncoming forces of darkness.

What is So Weird About This West?
Before Doomsday, the industrial revolution that brought waves of wondrous devices enabling improved means of production also empowered a generation of inventors whose devices could be rightly described as curious and bizarre. Their creations were often astounding and occasionally dangerous. Average citizens scoffed at these newfangled machines which left them uninformed about new methods of production but equally safe from any of its accidental abnormalities.
Horror That Echoes
The fiends that overwhelmed the Earth at Doomsday took most life on the planet with them, but that was only the beginning of the horror. The few survivors battle against monsters in the outside world – and those that dwell within. The effects of the Spirits of Doom are horrific – and lasting.
Beyond the End of Days
Folks were caught unaware at Doomsday when malevolent and wrathful forces exploded from the mountains, unleashing legions of horrors which would envelop the lands from west to east, torturing and destroying all. Rumors following Doomsday blamed eccentric inventors for summoning the incursion with their demented devices while others blamed shamans and savants who had delved into arcane forces best left buried. But now assigning blame and finding reasons is useless to the few survivors as they simply struggle to live to the end of the day, perhaps to live another one.
Conclusion
Six-Gun Doomsday is based on the Cypher System from Monte Cook Games, with modifications to fit the setting. Monte Cook Games is preparing an updated rulesset for the Cypher System, which has been said to be at least a year away. One major change will be the way characters take damage. Since Six-Gun Doomsday uses it’s own simple and dramatic damage system, your game continues with no needs for updates.
